A World Away is open for viewing at the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson ,MS. 3881 Eastwood Dr, Jackson, Mississippi 39211

It will be on display until April 26th 2018.

The Mississippi Library Commission (MLC) and the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) have partnered to showcase artists adjudicated through MAC’s annual Visual Artist Fellowship Grant program. The exhibits, on display at the MLC building at 3881 Eastwood Drive in Jackson, will feature some of Mississippi’s finest artists. “We are so pleased to partner with the Arts Commission to showcase these amazing artists,” stated Sharman Smith, Interim Executive Director of MLC. “MLC strives to find ways to enhance the experience for our visitors and patrons, and what better way than by featuring beautiful works of art by Mississippi artists.”

MAC’s Visual Artist Fellowship grant program honors Mississippi artists who demonstrate the ability to create outstanding work in their chosen field, including painting, sculpture, photography, and many other mediums. These grants are highly competitive – only a small number of applicants receive an award. “Each year, MAC is proud to honor local artists who create exemplary work in their chosen field through our Artist Fellowship program,” stated Malcolm White, Executive Director of MAC. “Thanks to this important partnership with the Mississippi Library Commission and our shared vision for enhancing exposure to the arts across our state, we have a great opportunity to spotlight the work and achievements of this year’s fellows.”

The first exhibit features the work of painter Roger Allan Cleaves of Southaven, Jackson painter and mixed media artist Amelia Key, and ceramic artist Robert Long of Starkville. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm (except state holidays) through April 26, 2018
